I start with a blank item of bisque - the name for a blank piece of unfired pottery. This is my canvas and then I draw on the design before painting with special paint. The item is then glazed and fired in an industrial kiln to 1000 degrees. This is a lengthy process and takes a full 8 hours to heat up and another 8 hours to cool down. There’s lots of processes to go through to create your pieces hence the 2 week turnaround time at busy times of the year.

I created ColourSplash to brighten up tables and, because of the vivid mix of colours, these pieces can sit with any colour dinner set, giving a quirky feel! 

These oval platters are 35cm x 23cm and great for presenting anything from meat to fruit. 

The splashes of colour are created from globules of dried coloured glaze that I collect and produce and sprinkle on top of clear glaze. Once fired in the kiln (to 1000 degrees) they melt and leave a raised, quite tactile surface. 

Each one is totally unique, I try to make sure there's a good balance of colours but they do have their own personality and differences!
