Mystic Jade Crystal Glaze
The Crystal Glaze collections are where I experiment with layers of different glazes and cascades to create stunning and unusual effects.
These glazes are layered to create unique bespoke pieces. Each piece is truly unique. I try to create tactile designs that work either on their own or as part of a set and are inspired by nature.
The vase 12cm high and a perfect size for daffodils, tulips or a handful of flowers from the garden.
The coasters are 10.2cm x 10.2cm and come with cork backing. They are available individually or in sets of 4 or 6.
The trinket boxes are 8cm x 3.7cm
I start by applying some base layers to the piece and then apply the crystal glazes before kiln firing to Cone 06, so 1000 degrees. The crystals bloom in the kiln and transform giving captivating effects.
This is a lengthly process and takes a full 8 hours to heat up and another 28 hours to cool down. There’s lots of processes to go through to create your pieces hence the 2 week turnaround time.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the process or would like me to create anything bespoke.
Who doesn’t use a coaster?! These brighten up any table.
They are 10.2cm x 10.2cm and come with a cork backing.
This design comes in two colour ways, either the traditional orange paired with a classic navy blue, or the fresh Seafoam enhanced by a softer dark blue.
Matching bowls available.
I often get asked about the processes I go through to get the finished article so here goes...
I start with a blank item of bisque - the name for a blank piece of unfired pottery. This is my canvas and then silkscreen on the crab design. The item is then fired in an industrial kiln to 1000 degrees. This sets the outline.
I then add coloured and crystal glazes before clear glazing and firing again to 1000 degrees.
This is a lengthy process and takes a full 8 hours to heat up and another 28 hours to cool down. There’s lots of processes to go through to create your pieces hence the 2 week turnaround time.
